Scott Marshall is a Project Manager for a local private home improvement company. He has worked for the company for over 20 years and was coming up on his 65th birthday. He had heard about Medicare but was unsure how it would help him since he planned on working well past his 65th birthday. At the time we met Scott was covered by his employer’s health insurance plan. He paid a portion of the premium and his employer paid the balance.
His question to me was: Should I enroll in Medicare or stay on my company’s plan?
We met to review his options and like I always do I asked him specific questions to get to know him and his healthcare needs and concerns. I then took this information and analyzed it against all the available plans in his area. When we got back together I educated him on how Medicare works and compared his Medicare options with his current employer plan.
After clarifying a few final questions Scott decided to enroll into a Medicare plan because by doing so he improved his health benefits and reduced his monthly expenses. Not to mention the Medicare plan offered additional benefits not available with his company’s plan. Scott has the peace-of-mind knowing that his healthcare is protected now and will continue into his retirement. Additionally, the company saved premium money and passed a portion of this savings onto Scott in the form of increased salary. A win for Scott and a win for the company.
Who do you know who is turning 65 (or is over 65), still working and covered by their employer’s health insurance? They might benefit from a Medicare review just like Scott did.
Please forward them this story or share my contact information with them. I’d be happy to help them and promise they will get the excellent service they deserve.
PS: Who do you know that is a business owner that has Medicare eligible employees...they too might benefit from a Medicare review.
