Don Sullivan is a manager with a retail pharmacy. Don will be retiring in November of 2019 and will lose his employer health insurance. He recently met with his financial advisor to finalize plans for his retirement when he mentioned that he could use some guidance in understanding his Medicare health insurance options. Having been in the pharmacy business for many years Don understood how Medicare covered prescription drugs but was not totally sure of which Medicare option would best protect his healthcare in retirement. His financial advisor referred him to us here at Simply Senior Solutions.
We agreed to meet a couple of weeks later at the financial advisor’s office. Prior to the meeting we asked Don some questions to better understand his healthcare needs. At the initial meeting we educated Don on how original Medicare works; what it covers and what it does not cover. We further educated him on his additional Medicare options based on the information he shared with us. Don definitely understood how Medicare works with prescription drugs based on his work experience and after our meeting he had a better understanding of his options for additional Medicare health insurance. In several follow up emails Don asked some important clarifying questions about his options to further educate himself. In doing so, he also helped educate us because we had to research the answers to his questions. Feeling comfortable with the answers and education he received Don choose to enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan and a Part D drug plan. He now has the peace-of-mind knowing that his healthcare will be protected during his retirement.
Who do you know who will be retiring soon and has questions about Medicare health insurance?
Please send them this story or share our contact information with them. We’d be happy to help them navigate the Medicare Maze.
PS: We are looking forward to drawing on Don’s experience in the pharmacy business to further educate our clients on how to make best use of their prescription drug plans.
